The Discovery Station at Hagerstown is located
in the beautiful, historic Nicodemus Bank building at 101
West Washington Street across from the Washington County courthouse.
The original bank housed the Federal Depository during the
Civil War. The magnificent main vault with leaded glass was
installed in 1913. The building's three floors contain 5 vaults.
With its white marble exterior and soaring palladium windows,
it is one of the most architecutrally significant buildings
in downtown Hagerstown.
During your tour of Discovery
Station, you can examine the mammoth main vault door and
mechanisms and enter the vault, where an exhibit of
crystals, gem stones, geos, fossils, rocks and other interesting
objects can be viewed.
